The Texas Instruments DRV3256-Q1 automotive grade gate driver is a highly integrated three-phase gate driver for 48V automotive motor drive applications. The device is specifically designed to provide 2A peak pull current and 2.5A peak fill current gate drive current, as well as 90V MOSFET transient overvoltage support to support high power motor drive applications. The efficient bootstrap architecture minimizes power loss and gate driver self-heating. The charge pump allows the gate driver to support 100% PWM duty cycle control.
The Texas Instruments DRV3256-Q1 features a variety of monitoring, diagnostic, and protection features to support robust motor drive system designs. A highly configurable active short circuit feature supports integration of selected external MOSFETs for fast response to system faults. No external components are required for this feature. Optionally, three or one low-side shunt amplifiers are available to support resistor-based low-side current detection.
